SUMMARY:Weight Loss Injections and Lipoedema
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn about City St George’s\, University of London latest research project. \n\n\n\nThe project explores the experiences of people with lipoedema who have used GLP-1/GIP weight loss medications such as Ozempic\, Wegovy\, Mounjaro and Saxenda. \n\n\n\nThe survey is being organised by UK doctor Nicole Lim-Wann-Jie as part of the research team at City St George’s\, University of London. \n\n\n\nAlthough these medications are not currently licensed or approved for the treatment of lipoedema\, increasing numbers of people with lipoedema are trying them. At present\, there is very limited research into whether these medications have any impact on lipoedema symptoms\, experiences\, or quality of life. \n\n\n\nDuring this webinar\, Nicole will: \n\n\n\n\nShare an update on the research project at City St George’s\, University of London\n\n\n\nExplain her role in the study and why she is interested in researching lipoedema\n\n\n\nDiscuss what the team hopes to learn\n\n\n\nExplain how people can take part in the study\n\n\n\nExplore why gathering real-world data from the lipoedema community is so important\n\n\n\n\nThis research aims to better understand the experiences of people with lipoedema who have used GLP-1/GIP medications\, helping to inform future research and clinical understanding. \n\n\n\nAbout the Survey\n\n\n\nThe study involves an anonymous online survey designed to gather experiences from people with lipoedema who have used weight loss injections. \n\n\n\nWhat the survey involves\n\n\n\n\nApproximately 10–15 minutes to complete\n\n\n\nApproximately 40 questions\n\n\n\nAnonymous participation\n\n\n\nAn opportunity to share your personal experience\n\n\n\nContributing to research that may help inform future approaches to lipoedema care and support\n\n\n\n\nYou may be eligible if you:\n\n\n\n\nAre aged 18 or over\n\n\n\nHave lipoedema (clinician-diagnosed or self-diagnosed)\n\n\n\nAre currently using\, or have previously used\, any GLP-1/GIP weight loss injection for 3 months or longer\n\n\n\nHave taken your last dose within the past 12 months\n\n\n\nAre able to complete an online survey in English\, independently or with assistance\n\n\n\nLive anywhere in the world\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: these medications are not currently licensed or approved for the treatment of lipoedema.
