Lipoedema in the Spotlight – What Clinicians and Patients Need to Know

June 4 @ 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm
We’re excited to announce our collaboration with the Royal Society of Medicine this June for Lipoedema Awareness Month, delivering a FREE, in-depth webinar exploring the perspective of worldwide experts on diagnosis, management, research, and the future of lipoedema care.
What to expect?
Following last year’s successful event Medicine and Me: Unmasking Lipoedema, we’re delighted to once again partner with the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) to raise awareness their prestigious UK and international clinical community.
This all new 4-hour online session, Lipoedema in the Spotlight: Expert Opinion on What Clinicians and Patients Need to Know, brings together respected international experts and people with lived experience to bridge the gap between research, clinical practice, and patient reality.
We will explore the newly published Lipoedema World Alliance Delphi Consensus-Based Position Paper, which establishes a globally relevant, evidence-based framework for understanding and managing lipoedema.
We will also provide an update from the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on the review of liposuction guidance, highlighting the current position and next steps.
Key topics
Our key topics are based on the 8 domains of the Lipoedema World Alliance (LWA) consensus document:
✔ Definition and clinical presentation: a clear, standardised definition of lipoedema and its distinguishing features
✔Pathophysiology mechanisms: current understanding of biological processes
✔Epidemiology: current understanding of biological processes
✔Co-morbidities: associated conditions (including obesity) and their impact on management and outcomes
✔Quality of life: exploring physical, psychological, and social impacts on daily living
✔Diagnosis: clinical approaches and ongoing challenges
✔Treatment strategies and management: conservative, medical, and surgical options within care pathways
✔Future directions: emerging research, innovation, and gaps in care
Who should attend?
This international webinar is FREE and open to all.
It is designed for both people living with lipoedema and generalist and specialist healthcare professionals, including GPs, consultants, surgeons, nurses, allied health professionals, and those working in related clinical and research fields.
