Why GLP-1 Medications Work for Some Women with Lipedema – and Not Others:
Genetics, Metabolism & Anti-Inflammatory Nutrition”
March 12, 2026 @ 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm
Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) and newer dual agonists such as tirzepatide are transforming obesity care, yet many women with lipedema experience highly variable results—from dramatic weight loss to almost no change at all. This webinar will explore why.
Drawing on the recent study identifying neurobeachin (NBEA) as a novel gene associated with GLP-1–related weight loss, Linda-Anne Kahn will explain in patient- friendly language how genetics, insulin sensitivity, and inflammation can shape individual responses to GLP-1 and tirzepatide. She’ll share clinical experience of her patients with lipedema who are using tirzepatide, highlight key messages from her Lipedema World Congress poster on Metabolic dysfunction, insulin resistance, and inflammation in patients with lipedema and review recent anti-inflammatory nutrition research presented in Rome.
Participants will leave with a realistic, compassionate understanding of why responses differ, and practical strategies to combine medication, nutrition, and lymphatic self-care to support better outcomes and quality of life.
