Liposuction for Lipoedema Update
Lipoedema UK welcome an update to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence NICE’s Liposuction for chronic lipoedema Guidance, IPG721.
See the update from NICE below:
“NICE is aware of the LIPLEG trial taking place in Germany and the July 2025 Federal Joint Committee press release about this trial. NICE will review this guidance when the trial results are published.”
Statement from Sharie Fetzer, Chair and Mary Warrilow, Director of Strategic Partnerships, Lipoedema UK:
“Lipoedema UK are eagerly awaiting the results of the German Government funded LIPLEG trial, expected in 2026. The German government is already taking into account the positive results experienced by the participants by issuing their July 2025 Federal Joint Committee press release about this trial, stating that liposuction will be available to suitable German patients who meet their diagnostic criteria.
Lipoedema UK are at the forefront of all campaigning to ensure the next NICE review examines all the new evidence of the positive effects of liposuction and the safety of the procedure.
Please support our efforts through your membership, fundraising and donations.
Thank you.”
